Instructions
1.) Remove butyl tape from package, cut the butyl tape to fit
the diameter of the pipe so the ends meet, but do not overlap. Remove paper
backing and line up the edge directly against the joint. Remove the roll of
rubber tape from the package and remove all paper backing from one end.

2.) Apply the adhesive section of the rubber tape directly on
the the outer half of the butyl tape farthest from the joint. The adhesive
should be half anchored on the pipe, the other half on top of the butyl tape as
in illustration number 2. Begin wrapping the tape stretching it to maximum
tension. Apply 5 wraps over this section working inward towards and over the
joint squeezing the butyl tape underneath into the gaps of the joint until
satisfied the leaking has stopped.
3.) Once satisfied the leak is sealed you can apply the
Syntho-Glass fiberglass cloth contained in the foil pouch to make the repair
permanent. If you want to replace the coupling do not apply the fiberglass cloth
because it sets rock hard in thirty minutes. Instead consider freezing the pipe
using the Eskimo mini Freezer for pipes up to 1", Eskimo
Pipe Freezer for pipes up to 2", or FREEZALL
- Portable Do-It-Yourself Pipe-Freezing Equipment jacket kits for larger
pipes from 2-1/2" to 6". All operated using ozone safe liquid CO2. No
CFC's1
- Allows Repairs to be performed with active line pressures up to 60
psi.
The rubber sealing tape allows the leak to be sealed or tied off while it
is under pressure.
- No need to shut down a production line!
This Under Pressure Joint Repair kit means your production line or water
service will stay operational and no loss of production or water supply to
the building.
